Trade with Estonia

In 2011, the export of goods totalled 12 billion EUR and total imports amounted to 12.6 billion EUR. According to Statistics Estonia, in 2011 the exports of goods at current prices increased 38% and imports 37% compared to 2010. Estonian foreign trade is mainly based on strong economic ties with Finland, Sweden, Russia, Latvia, Germany and Lithuania, as well as with other countries.

The main countries of destination were Sweden (15.6% of Estonia’s total exports), Finland (15%) and Russia (11%) and the main countries of consignment were Finland (12.5% of Estonia’s total imports), Latvia (10.8%) and Sweden (10.6%). The share of EU countries accounted for 66% and that of CIS countries 13% of total exports in 2011.

The main export goods are machinery and equipment (27%), mineral products (17%), metals and products thereof (9%), agricultural products and food preparations (8%), wood and products thereof (8%).
